Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Policy

Cogent Blue is committed to operating in a responsible and sustainable manner. We encourage rewarding, long-term partnerships by understanding the needs of individuals, clients and partners, and conducting our business in a way that meets the highest standards of professionalism and ethics.

Our commitment to CSR is focused on the following key areas:

Team

Cogent Blue adheres to an equal opportunities policy that ensures all associates are treated with respect, regardless of disability, sex, marital status, ethnic origin, age, religion or sexual orientation.

Partners

We regard all suppliers and contractors as our partners, and encourage them to uphold our values of trust, transparency, responsibility and fairness.

Clients

We are committed to achieving high professional standards and aim to deliver the best possible experience for our clients by providing high-quality services and building partnerships based on transparency and fairness.

Business Conduct

We ensure that our business is conducted according to rigorous ethical, professional and legal standards.

When working with small business suppliers we commit to invoice settlement within 7 days of receipt of invoice and, for sub-contractors, within 7 days of receipt of client payment.

Environment

We strive to minimise the environmental impact of our business by actively seeking out and adopting cloud-based technologies and being aware of environmental best practice, including responsible waste management. We also seek to work with local suppliers located within a 10-mile radius of our business base, thus minimising our logistical impact on the environment.

Charity

Cogent Blue has been proudly supporting Hospitality Action as a Corporate Supporter since 2016. We recognise that many of our colleagues in the hospitality industry face times of crisis and this great charity is dedicated to supporting people in need across the sector.

In 2019, we marked Cogent Blue’s 10th anniversary with a £10,000 gift to Hospitality Action, and in 2020 we took part in the 20,000 mile Hospitality Challenge and Invisible Christmas Party. In 2021, we joined in with the cycling fundraiser, To Hell and Back, to support our hospitality colleagues during the covid pandemic. We’re sure that there will be many more adventurous fundraising events to come!

Since 2022, our Managing Partner, Shona Whitehead, has been a Hospitality Ambassador for Hospitality Action, and is committed to raising awareness of the charity’s inspiring work.

Who are Hospitality Action?

Hospitality Action was established as a charity in 1837 and offers vital assistance to all who work, or have worked within, hospitality in the UK.

Hospitality Action provides free advice and support to hospitality staff whenever times get tough. They’re there for the chefs, waiters, housekeepers and managers. They’re there for the concierges, receptionists and kitchen porters. And they’re there for every sommelier, bartender, catering assistant and cook across the UK.

Health and Safety

We are committed to maintaining a clean and safe working environment.
